My story started in the serene embrace of Bengal, in a little Anglo-Indian railway town, where the river Kosai meets the horizon, Tagore’s tales whisper through the wind, Hen houses announce the dawn, ducks glide on serene ponds, cows adorn the fields under the soft gaze of the sun, crimson trails painted in hues of earthy red, like veins of the earth, wind their way through this tapestry of life, mud houses stand with grace and nestle amidst whispering palm and parrot trees surrounded by rice, mustard and paddy fields blossom as nature’s blessing and steam engine’s sigh marks the passage of time, carve through the landscape, bordered by the ethereal dance of Kans Grass as if bidding farewell to the town’s embrace.

Cricket emerged as my first love, the initial rhythm of my heart, the melody of ball meeting bat, the chorus of cheers, lush green outfield and the rhythm of the game that flowed as pure and profound as the verses of Sukanta, yet nestled within this pastoral symphony, a quieter childhood curiosity was sparked by the clandestine magic harboured in my father’s electronic sanctum where the devices sang in the language of light and shadow, where LEDs flickered like fireflies against the twilight, my fascination with technology quietly blossomed. It was a world apart from the green pitches of Cricket, yet it drew me with the promise of mysteries to unravel and creations to be born. In the glow of those flashing lights, a new love quietly took root, branching out from the soil of my first passion.

As I grew, so did my dual loves, each feeding into the other in unexpected ways. The chivalry, discipline and teamwork of Cricket mirrored the meticulousness and collaboration required in technology. The lab became another arena of play for me when my father bought me a computer during the early days of secondary education, where I did not chase the cricket ball but learnt coding in C and understood DOS, played hours of Road Rash, Mortal Kombat driven by the same passion that propelled me across the green under the vast, open Bengal sky and perhaps that started my journey in the tech world; later on with a computer systems and network engineering background, I’ve had the privilege of working on projects ranging from building network to setting up gaming parlours to data migration. While these may look like a typical day-to-day job for an IT Engineer, these experiences have sharpened my technical skills and reinforced my belief in the power of technology to make a meaningful difference.

Growing up in the railway town, then in Calcutta, and travelling across India, I got accustomed to speaking many Indo-Aryan languages, but somehow, I always felt that technology as a universal language that can bring down walls, connect minds from different corners of the globe, and pave the way for a society that celebrates diversity, equity, and sustainability. Whether it’s through developing software that enhances accessibility, engineering solutions that tackle environmental challenges, or simply sharing knowledge and ideas, I am deeply committed to contributing to a world where technology serves humanity’s best interests.

Outside of my professional life, I volunteer and encourage others to support charitable causes. I am an avid learner, always curious about the next innovation that can add a new dimension to my understanding of technology’s role in society. I enjoy reading books, playing chess, watching sci-fi series, watching cartoons, a bit of recitation and painting, and I play Cricket on the weekends, which keeps my inner child alive and grounded.

Thank you for sharing this moment with me. May our paths cross in the pursuit of a world where technology serves as the canvas for our collective dreams.
